Designed by Frida Escobedo, this year’s annual report of the Zumtobel Group is published under the title “The Book of Hours” and shows a very personal reflection of the Mexican architect on the topic of light. Since 1991, a wide variety of personalities from the fields of architecture, graphic design and art have been invited every year to design the Zumtobel Group's annual report in response to the theme of light. Detached from any corporate design guidelines of the company, the freedom in design promotes the creation of singular editions, which have achieved collector's status by now.
The Zumtobel Group Award honours innovations for Sustainability and Humanity in the Built Environment while promoting pioneering concepts and developments for more quality of life and sustainability in the built environment and its design. Acting as a stimulus, the Zumtobel Group Award addresses core issues of our age. Praising sustainable solutions, pioneering social initiatives, research projects and applied innovations in the built environment. The driving force behind this award was and is the significance innovative solutions in architecture and urban planning can have to reduce global energy consumption and boost the general quality of life.
Always staying one step ahead and shaping the lighting of the future plays an important role in the philosophy of the Zumtobel Group. We therefore work tirelessly to find innovative lighting solutions and services today for the issues of tomorrow. Research and Development (R&D) has always been and will remain a decisive factor for the success and economic sustainability of the Zumtobel Group. The goal of R&D is to protect and expand the competitive product portfolio by further strengthening the Zumtobel Group’s outstanding technology position and innovative power.
Experience light in all its forms in the industry's largest light forum for indoor and outdoor lighting. An old industrial hall in the centre of Dornbirn, Austria, was transformed into a lighting experience space measuring 4,000 m². The site is a platform and meeting place where Zumtobel Group customers and employees can share knowledge and network. The design of the Co-Creation Space evolved from the corporate culture of Snøhetta, the prestigious Norwegian architectural office. A dynamic revitalisation of the open-plan space was a key part of this. The large auditorium, with its multimedia functions, invites the public to share information and ideas.
