TECTON II: elegant design meets maximum customisability

Zumtobel is setting new standards in design and customisability with its TECTON II continuous-row lighting system.

In collaboration with the renowned Italian design studio and engineering company Pininfarina, Zumtobel, as a provider of integrated lighting solutions, has developed an aesthetically sophisticated and highly customisable continuous-row lighting system that will be available from July 2025. The unique combination of style and functionality opens up a wide range of possible applications. In the second part of our blog series, we take a closer look at the TECTON II values of “design-oriented” and “customisable”.

Focus on design

In Pininfarina, Zumtobel found the perfect partner for developing TECTON II. Both companies complement each other perfectly. On the one hand, Zumtobel has an in-depth understanding of the lighting market and expertise in the manufacture of innovative lighting systems. On the other hand, Pininfarina has impressive expertise in designing unique products that combine beauty, functionality and technology. Zumtobel also wanted to collaborate with a company that could approach the project from a neutral outside-in perspective, cover different specialist disciplines and demonstrate ways and means of optimising the user experience. As the icing on the cake, the partners share the same corporate values.

The specific challenge was to design a new iconic TECTON continuous-row lighting system that would continue the success of its predecessor. Mission accomplished: following intensive discussions with internal and external stakeholders, potential customers and installers, an innovative continuous-row lighting system offering the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetic design was created. TECTON II is suitable for a wide range of applications in industry, office, education, art and culture. It offers uniform, discreet light distribution that blends seamlessly and extremely unobtrusively into various architectural designs and responds flexibly to different lighting requirements.

TECTON II also features user-orientated, clear design. The reduction of non-illuminating elements and the absence of superfluous curves result in an elegant, linear appearance. Finally, the design maintains the structural continuity of all components and emphasises the role of light as a central element of the system.

Customisable for every application area

TECTON II has also achieved a new milestone in customisability. With 15 poles and three versatile, fully assignable circuits, the new continuous-row lighting infrastructure offers maximum flexibility for a wide range of applications. From Tier 4 data centres to system-critical infrastructure buildings and extreme environments, Zumtobel supplies customised individual solutions. As an innovative all-in-one node solution, TECTON II considerably simplifies the planning, installation and illumination of complex structures such as track edges and corners. The IP64-protected and ball-proof versions guarantee durability and safety even in challenging environments. TECTON II not only fulfils the current requirements of modern construction projects, but is also equipped for future challenges, making it a future-proof investment and an indispensable lighting solution.

To be continued…
